Description
The project is part of the variant proposal, submitted by the ATI in the Restricted Procedure for the GE 50/08 tender of the construction works of the variant to State Road 1 Aurelia, 3rd lot between Felettino and the Raccordo roundabout.
The architectural-functional solution of the traffic circles stems first and foremost from the need to bring to the highest level the safety standards for the road system, at the same roundabouts; in addition to all the means of signaling provided by the specific technical standards, it was therefore desired to improve the visibility of the traffic circle system through the insertion of a three-dimensional element that would highlight its presence, even at a distance. This element, precisely because of its inevitable landscape impact, could not remain a simple functional structure, therefore it was also decided to give it an architectural value that would qualify the choice of the rotary system from an aesthetic point of view.
However, the proposed solution was conditioned by the different characteristics of the two roundabouts; on viaduct the Farno roundabout and on embankment the Buonviaggio roundabout.In particular, the project predicts the construction of No. 2 steelwork lattice structures to be placed inside the two new roundabouts.
It will have a three-dimensional configuration, consisting of triangular-shaped modules inside of which Aisi 304 stainless steel mesh panels will be inserted, necessary to make the structure more visible during the day and at night, thanks to the reflectivity that these same panels will guarantee.
The structures will be anchored to the ground, in the case of the Buonviaggio roundabout, or directly to the edge of the bridge, by means of a steel cantilever bracket, in the case of the Farno roundabout.
